Short Take: Bandai liquidates digital entertainment division

Bandai announced that it will take a one-time charge to liquidate its ill-fated digital entertainment division, which was the first licensee of Apple Computer's Pippin game and entertainment platform. Bandai's Pippin Power Player failed to catch on with the market and created massive losses for the company. The charge will come to $88 million, but Bandai said sales of its Tamagotchi virtual pets will bolster its earnings.
