Short Take: Sun acquires Encore Computer

Sun Microsystems has announced it has acquired all Encore Computer, a data storage and retrieval company, for $185 million. The acquisition comes one day after Sun reported record annual earnings and Sun executives told analysts the company would be making opportunistic acquisitions throughout the year and may seek additional funding over the next 12 months.
