Networking chip maker Broadcom on Monday announced 802.11g Wi-Fi chips with a new technology that increases the range of wireless networks by 50 percent, according to the company.
One chip will be for client devices such as notebooks and PC cards and another will be for routers. The technology, called BroadRange, essentially improves a device's ability to receive transmissions, boosting its transfer rates and range. The company sells chips to manufacturers that are testing the chips now.
