A Michael Jackson promotional single has been released with copy-protection technology to prevent unauthorized distribution of the song as a digital file, according to Sony Music Europe. The record company said that after Jackson's single "You Rock My World" was leaked on the Internet, copy-protection technology from Key2Audio Technology was included on promotional copies sent to radio stations in Europe. Key2Audio is one of several copy-protection schemes Sony is testing. The company added, however, that it does not have plans to release commercial copies using the technology.

Two weeks ago, EMI Recorded Music said it would begin using security from BayView Systems to prevent the piracy of songs offered to the media and retail buyers in advance of scheduled commercial releases.
