Seriously, I would like to know why it makes sense to deviate even one tiny bit from what ought to be a righteous path anyway to react to what the politicians refer to as "terrorists." Why?

Its interesting that Britain and Communist China are implementing very similar systems. The U.S. wants to do it too. Makes you wonder if there is any fundamental difference in these governments.
