The bad points are that it gives M$ and Nintendo more headroom to compete in X-mas for living room space in Europe without worrying about competition from Sony.
Another is that it puts a lot of doubt about the reliability of the technology that goes into PS3 - especially blu-ray; thus the opportunity is lost in getting a blu-ray player into a household dufing the holiday seasons, affecting blu-ray movie sales and growth in the HD disc format war.
The good point is that Europeans will be able to save their dough IF the PS3 proves to be a solid winner in the US, not neccessarily in Asia. There will also be a larger library of games and blu-ray movies for PS3 also in March; selling the machine either in January or February would be stupid since too many people are still recovering from their holiday shopping sprees.
Unfortunately, the bad points win out more because the good points rely heavily on success in the US, since American gamers share many qualities with European games - IF the PS3 does not sell right or the titles do not attract or anything goes wrong in the US sale - Europe will not be kind and it will affect Sony on a global setting affecting its stock and marketshare in the electronics industry; a failed PS3 launch in the US will also doom blu-ray possibly as an HD medium for movies in both Europe and US, only Japan would probably still use the meduim.
It sucks to be in Sony's shoes now.
What difference a few weeks make. Now they tell the truth it seems.

But then again, remember Moore's Law! For with these advances seperate computer game consoles, will surely become an endangered species, with a very short halflife indeed!
