But analysts expect additional HD DVD support and new hit releases to "transform" the high-definition DVD battle score in fourth quarter.
The story "Blu-ray outsells HD DVD in U.S. for first nine months" published October 23, 2007 at 4:54 AM is no longer available on CNET News.
Content from Reuters expires after 30 days.

Personally any studio that doesn't release their products on multiple formats doesn't get bought by me. That or I find alternatives that are cheaper or (to my surprise) there are vendors in Europe and Asia that are releasing titles in both formats that are not being released here. Some are region free while other are not.
So at least I can get Transformers (2007) on Blu-ray or HD-DVD in the UK and not in the US.
Something smells rotten and it isn't the fish.
can be summarized as "Blu-Ray discs are cheaper, there are
twice as many Blu-Ray players out there, they're outselling HD
DVD 2 to 1, and many more places stock them, but somehow
magically everything is going to switch next month! HD DVD
may still win!"
I know Microsoft is desperate not to have Blu-Ray's Java
interactive format win and Toshiba is desperate not to have
Sony's physical format win, but they're really screwing up the
industry with their format tantrum. Let's just admit Blu-Ray won
and get on with it.
Region independence is the main reason I'm siding with HD-DVD. I can't beleive the Blu Ray supporters are willing to whitstand that sort of cr*p again.
the format war has said,
?It?s short-sighted and it has delayed consumers? moving to HD
(home video). As a director, my critical eye is that Blu-ray is
where my money is.?
I bet he wanted Dolby True HD as his soundtrack of choice for
his movie Transformers but due to the lack of space he had to
settle with Dolby Digital Plus. Ha!

Please love to ***** and complain but seldom do anything about it. Like the Bush administration if people are really so fed up with Bush ignoring what they want then during the last election they could have given the house and senate enough democrats they could have overwritten Bush's Veto. But, now they groan and complained and then didn't bother to give them enough of a majority to do anything.
Consumers are stupid lemmings.

And are why HD DVD doesnt need the Xbox 360. Its already winning the war where it matters.
Ouch.
- No wonder Blue-Ray out sold HD-DVD at first!!!!!

- Sony had time to plaster the market with thier Playstation3 that comes with and includes all the things needed to enjoy Blue-Ray movies and games. What did HD have?,XBOX? not quite those didn't come out until Microsoft pulled thier heads out. That is a big reason that we saw such a huge increase in sales after the first quarter, Xbox finally hasd the abiltity of playing those HD dvd's. So don't the let the sprinter fool you into thinking they are going to win a marathon.
