To be able to go home and download the show you just attended and listen to it the next day is obviously a huge bonus for the fan, and the 3 million CDs sold from past efforts along these lines are nothing to sneeze at for the artist. Presumably the band is getting most of the revenue from these since they aren't involved with the record label. A win-win for everyone who deserves to benefit.
Bravo, Pearl Jam!
of Musician magazine. The article was about how they were
struggling with Warner Bros. Y Ticketmaster to be the masters of
their own destiny, to live outside the organized monopoly of
they who stock the record bins.
In light of Sony's (right record co.?) getting a slap on the wrist
for the first major payola scam of this millenium, the other
conglomerates can shore up their assets if they move now to
prevent convergence between BitTorrent and podcasting. Scaring
the masses will go a long way towards that.
