Security update out for Firefox 1.5

February 2, 2006
Mozilla has released a developers' version of Firefox 2.0 to enable them to test the infrastructure supporting the browser's new bookmark functionality.

Firefox 2.0 Bon Echo Alpha 1, delivered Tuesday evening, focuses on improving access and the ease of use for Web site history and bookmarks, known as Places, according to the Mozilla wiki.

The Places functionality aims to consolidate user data formats, as well as improve the capabilities of Live Bookmarks.

"The BonEcho Alpha 1 milestone is the first of many developer milestones on the path to Firefox 2," Mike Schroepfer, vice president of engineering for Mozilla, said in a statement. "We do not recommend that anyone other than developers and testers download Alpha 1, as it is intended for testing purposes only."

The final release of Firefox 2.0 is expected in the third quarter of this year. Its debut would come roughly two years after Firefox 1.0 was released in November 2004 amid much fanfare.

Is nice to play with too...

With the delay in Vista, it's surely time to go down to the closest
Apple Store and at least take a look right?

Check out Oxygen browser too
by Dean_Ansari March 22, 2006 9:32 AM PST
1st, I like Firfox browser alot, my hats off to them.
But there is another very good web browser which is NetDIVE's Oxygen web browser.
You can find it here:
www.netdive.com
or direct here:
http://www.netdive.com/oxygen/download.htm

Its key advantage over FFox and IE are that it has Java VM built-in native so you (your web site users) do not need to make a separate huge download & installation of the JVM.
It is also fast because it does not have any extra software such as mail client, etc.
It is just for fast web browsing with Java built-in.

And it is free of charge or Ads.

Cheers :)

Try it FF2 using a portable version
by mvprj84 March 22, 2006 10:34 AM PST
If you use a portable version then you will not screw up any version of Firefox that is already installed. You can get the details and download here:

Mac Snobs
by Julie Allen March 22, 2006 10:35 AM PST
I'm not a fan of Bill Gates but you arrogant Mac snobs make Linux look really pretty as an option.

Unless YOU want to buy me a Mac. I can't afford these pricey pieces of arrogance. I don't think I'd want one just because Jobs and The Mac Faithful act like their fecal matter has no odor.
