Go Get Them Both (Yahoo & AOL) Microsoft...
by Commander_Spock February 11, 2008 5:11 AM PST
... One and (or both) that would not allow for enough Freedom of Speech, one and or both that does not understand that it is a "WARPED WORLD"; and, one that arbitrarily "interrupts" email accounts/communications.

BEAM US ALL IN (VULCANS, KLINGONS...) SCOTTY. ;-) !

TW is one of the most influential, powerful and savvy media companies in the world. Combined with the power of Yahoo (one of the most powerful online properties and a media powerhouse in itself), they would be nearly unstoppable.

By scrapping ads, or just relinquishing their internal ad division to Google, they could concentrate on subscriptions and other fee based services (AOL, TW's main net property is even less of an ad power that Yahoo!).

Yahoo! + (Insert Time Magazine title)=
Exclusive editorial content online for subscribers

Yahoo! + AOL In2TV/AOL Video=
Merging Yahoo! TV, Yahoo! Videos, AOL Video, In2TV
together would create a rival for YouTube could possibly be a new largest video site. Not to mention a new platform for streaming online video rentals or tie-ins with TW's HBO. Endless opportunities.

Yahoo! Mail + AOL/ AIM Mail=
Already the largest mail provider, aligning AOL and AIM mail together with Yahoo! will give a new fresh image. Special site just for iPhone? $1.99 per month. Yahoo! Mail with AOL/Yahoo! messenger integration? The possibilities here are also endless.

Alone, each company lacks the power to be a disruptive force. Together, they could become powerful rivals to Apple, Google, Microsoft and the like. This is a great move! (once they actually announce it that is)

I smell a poison pill!!!

Question --> How can Yahoo avoid being bought by Microsoft? Answer --> Buy AOL and what ever other company that doesn't fit the Microsoft direction.

Just a thought!

The MSFT "Poison Pill" Removal Procedure!
by Commander_Spock February 12, 2008 11:32 AM PST
Have the MSFT Opposition Board of directors deliver the one, two punches (spiked with Excel FFT Sprinkles) and remove the poison pill, MSFT wins - Game over. :-( M :-$ ;-) !
This is refereshing Microsoft offering money for Intelligence
by manaboulsi February 12, 2008 4:25 PM PST
Unlike what they have done in the past (As admitted by their management). It is refreshing that Microsoft is offering to pay money for something they do not have instead of just copying it, and sticking their logo on it.

Obviously Yahoo has more then just what we see, otherwise Microsoft wouyldn't even ask them.

I hope Yahoo stay independent and improve their searchg a wee bit. I like their Yahoo GO and their privacy policy is not as scandelous as the competition.
