This an Antitrust Lawyer's Wet Dream!

I mean how can it not violate existing antitrust laws. It obviously
would be too much consolidation in an industry that is already
sorely lacking in competition. Microsoft absorbing AOL? If only
I practiced Antitrust law...

...the settlement will be amazing.

Here's why...

Apparently, they are seeing few roadblocks due to the ongoing exodus from dial-up Internet connections and the growing numbers of broadband users where MSN, for example, has made no major inroads.

To tell you the truth, I don't think it's business-wise for Microsoft to acquire AOL because as far as I know it is a unit on a loss, or if it isn't now, it will be soon.

In my opinion, Microsoft will be interested in purchasing Internet Service Providers when broadband users reach at least 60 or 70 percent of the total. And you should know, Microsoft is probably the most business-savvy company out there. :-)
