This could probably be the best acquisition Disney can make. After all, Pixar is the biggest money maker of computer animated, if not all animated, movies. Dreamworks only had Shrek to speak of, and even Shrek 2 didn't do as well as expected on dvd sales. Other studios, including Disney, have tried to compete with movies out of Pixar, but have not reached the same level of sales.
So, if Disney loses its distribution deal with Pixar, the Mouse will be in a lot of trouble. For Jobs, this is a win-win situation. If he approves the merging, he'll have access to more content from all the Disney library to make accessible through its iTunes stores, and whatever else he's got in mind with Front Row. Plus, he'll get to have power on influencing the direction of Disney.
You used to be able to be an adult and go to Disney films without feeling like an idiot. Now Pixar has filled that void and left Disney behind eating there dust. They don't even need to switch to CG films, just make them good. This merger would be good for both Jobs and Disney.
Right now it looks like Disney is on a losing track, at least on an artistic level. SYrup and slop seems to be the Disney motto.
So why would Pixar even consider linking up with Disney? Disney may have a distribution system. but is that so unique??? If it is, it's all Disney has to offer besides a lot of headaches.
I think that Disney should be coming on their knees to Pixar begging for someone to kick start Disney back into quality productions. Either that or Disney should just forget animation films altogether.
I would miss the Disney that Walt created. I would not miss the god awful mess that Eisner created.

MIT creates a simulation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Spacewar. A relic of the early days of minicomputers, it was one of the first computer video games and set the stage for many others, including Asteroids.
