This is a travesty ... let's work to stop it!
by January 19, 2006 6:57 AM PST
I truly believe that we need to tell the people of Pixar how wrong it is for them to do this merger. This is up there w/ the Ben & Jerry's merger to Unilever in something that is just wrong for the world.

Disney is not the type of place where the level of creativity, intelligence, and masterful storytelling can succeed.

Jeffrey Katzenberger left Disney for this very reason. Let's not kill one of the best, most innovative, and successful animated storytelling institution since what Disney used to be, become what Disney is today.

If people feel that there is little difference between being distributed by and being owned by Disney, I want to say that Pixar had a lot of leverage with their relationship to Disney as an outside firm. They could have always left at any time their contract allowed. So Disney had to give them a lot of creative freedom. Once owned by Disney this won't be the case.

Please, let's stop the madness!!!

Steve's in charge

Since Steve Jobs owns 51% of Pixar stock, if he wants to the merger, then he will. So Steve is the only person you need to convince. He has been a vocal critic of Disney so he knows what he is doing and what Disney's problems are.
Gee Whiz.

I'd think Apple people would be happy, it would basically remove one more thing from SJ's plate, and let him focus more on iPods and such.

Hey, how about a Disney themed iMac! :)

Disney is a loser.....
by Earl Benser January 19, 2006 8:50 AM PST
Once Walt died, the magic was lost, the animation skills went right
down the drain, and Machael Eisner made his fortune. It's Pixar
which should be buying Disney, but why would Pixar want to ??? -
unless distribution rights are all that important. If Iwere Steve Jobs,
I'd let Disney die on the vine, at least as far as movies go. Pixar is
everything Disney wished it was. No sense letting Disney get
control to screw up Pixar too.

Another wonderful movie by the Goofy company!

If Disney was capable of doing mega-hit animated movies they would. They wouldn't need Pixar. The reason Pixar does so well is they aren't Disney. If Pixar allows themselves to be bought by Disney say good by to good animated movies.

Disney was hot 40 years ago. Not so much now. Pixar would be stupid to let this happen.

Pixar needs a distributer.
Disney needs palatable content.
With Jobs becoming the top shareholder, who's running whom?
