But the reconstruction of AT&T was OK?...

I guess AT&T and SBC had enough cash to throw around to clear their merger of any regulatory annoyances. Google clearly needs to learn how to play the game and get some representation on M Street if they're to avoid the wrath of DC.

Don't you just hate it? I'm old enough to know better but I still feel angry/victimized when I believe that only money talks. When I was a kid I really wanted to trust. Now that I'm 60 I still want to trust but it's a nostalgia. Underneath the anger there is a lot of sadness as to the loss of that ability to trust. I just don't believe any of the politicians anymore. When I was a kid I thought they were all great/honorable/courageous people. Now, I think of them as crooks-who-have-been-found-out or crooks-who-haven't-been-found-out-yet.
