Yahoo goes local with Bay Area guide

  • Post a comment
In its never-ending quest to find more things to categorize, the Yahoo Internet guide has added the San Francisco Bay Area to its list of lists.

The new offering, called Yahoo SFBay Area, features subcategories such as entertainment, employment, travel, and real estate. Here you can find out about hot Bay Area bands, the gay and lesbian club scene, or how Bay Area sports teams are doing. You can also check classified ads, local news, or look up a friend in the white pages.

Among those providing content are the CBS affiliate KPIX-TV, Stanford University, and Fodor's guides. There are 60 content partners in all, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report.

The report said Yahoo has plans to launch similar sites for Los Angeles and New York this summer.
