CompuServe to license Navigator 2.0

  • Post a comment
CompuServe today closed a deal with Netscape Communications to license Netscape's Navigator browser.

The number-two online service also today said that it will offer Netscape's Macintosh Internet client software to its members. Software for the Macintosh will be available later this spring when CompuServe releases its Information Manager, version 3.0.

The deal also calls for CompuServe to create customized versions of Netscape Navigator Internet client software for corporate members. The company will market and distribute Netscape consumer and high-end applications.

The agreement gives Netscape yet another advantage in the browser market, which it dominates with an estimated 80 percent of client software.

Netscape recently reached licensing agreements with Internet service providers NetCom Online Communications Services and Concentric Research.
