New firewall stamps out Net viruses

Trend Micro Devices is now selling InterScan VirusWall, a new antivirus firewall product that detects computer bugs hiding in Internet traffic. The software is aimed at businesses with networked workstations or PCs set up to receive info from the Net.

According to company officials, the software monitors data at the gateway through which Net traffic is allowed into a company's LAN. When the software detects a byte sequence that indicates a virus it grabs suspicous files and puts them in an isolated location.

Available now, InterScan VirusWall is priced from $995.
