Judge blocks Georgia speech law

A federal judge today granted a temporary injunction against a Georgia law that forbids use of pseudonyms and anonymous speech on the Internet, according to the plaintiffs in the case.

The law also forbids placing registered trademarks or logos on a Web page without permission. Citing violation of the First Amendment, the court barred the state from enacting the law.

There is no word yet if the state will appeal. The case, American Civil Liberties Union vs. Miller, has been closely watched.
