The proble is in the Gracenote's code (which is written using ActiveX technology). Why blame Microsoft if Sony and Gracenote cannot write software properly?
Have you been paying attention? Because it sells clicks to the ABM lemmings. There is certainly an avenue for execuatable flaws on any platform, once the user gives permission for unknown (read: Sony) parties to run whatever code they want. It's a platform agnostic problem, however there will never be any incentive to exploit anything but whoever has the dominant market share.
