Adobe Systems next week will show off the results of its recent acquisition of Web publishing and multimedia software developer GoLive Systems with the launch of a new visual Web design and publishing tool.

Formerly known as GoLive CyberStudio, Adobe GoLive 4.0 is a cross-platform tool for building multimedia Web sites using XML (Extensible Markup Language) and Microsoft's Active Server Pages (ASP), combined with Adobe's Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat tools.

The product also features a redesigned movie editor for QuickTime 3.0, tighter Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) integration, new site management features, and additional JavaScript support.

Other Adobe components included in the new product are Adobe ImageReady, Adobe ImageStyler, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe After Effects.

Priced at $299, Adobe for Macintosh is scheduled to ship in March, followed by a Windows version in the second quarter. All registered users of CyberStudio Professional 3.x and below, CyberStudio Personal Edition, and Adobe PageMill can upgrade to GoLive 4.0 for $99 for a limited time, the company said.
