Which new game console do you think is best?

At this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the buzz is all about the boxes--which game console will be the pace-setter through the middle of the decade. Microsoft got the early spin a week ahead of the E3 show in Los Angeles with its MTV unveiling of the Xbox 360. Now Sony and Nintendo are having their say. Vote for the console you think is best.

Revolution Coming
by Mr. Miyamoto May 18, 2005 2:46 PM PDT
I can't see why people like the PS3. There's no compelling reason to buy it, the price will surely be horrendous, and the power of the Cell will 100% surely not be utilized, so the Revolution is the educated way to go.

If I ever get the money together, I see 2 consoles in my future.
by ScifiterX May 18, 2005 5:03 PM PDT
Both of the consoles I want will be backwards compatible and
not just with the top selling games.

Not every one is going to agree on whether they like the looks of
the PS3, Revolution, and the XBox 360. Aesthetically the PS3
looks the nicest to me. The Revolution looks nice if a bit plain. I
also think Microsoft should have hired Playskool to design their
console. They couldn't have made it any uglier than Microsoft
did.

When it comes to games Sony and Nintendo already have the
games I want to buy and/or play and its look like it will stay that
way. I cannot say the same about Microsoft's selection.

XBOX isn't fully backwards compatible?
by Stan Johnson May 18, 2005 6:24 PM PDT
I have heard that some current titles are not compatible with the new XBOX 360. If this is true I am going with Sony this go around.

That's one Ugly motha...
by Microbreak May 18, 2005 6:24 PM PDT
that XBox 360 is the Pontiac Aztec of video game consoles!!! They
couldn't have made it look worse if they tried! I really like the
styling of the Revo, but thats about all I like about it. I have to vote
for the PS3 overall because they seem to be more on focus than
Microsoft in regards of working to make the game developers lives
easier.
My only complaint with the PS3 is that it looks a tad bulky.

No prices yet

There is so much information missing regarding the consoles. One important omission is the price. If one console is half the price of another, then this certainly can change the answer to the question!

Missing Nintendo Controller?
by notagumshoe May 18, 2005 11:03 PM PDT
I think the biggest surprise will be next year when Nintendo
releases its new controller and Mario 128. Both have been in
development for a long time now, and are going to be great.

what about the price???
by May 19, 2005 7:58 AM PDT
We have yet to hear how much any of these three systems will set us back. Will they be reasonable priced? Or will we be calling them PAY-Station 3, Xbox $360, and Ripoff-lution?

Has anyone heard anything at all about the price?

I just felt I had to reply to this.. For all of you said and claimed that the only good game for Xbox was Halo or Halo 2, I think you don't know anything about the console. Let me list off a few games to help your brain's incompetency. First off:

Project Gotham Racing 1+2
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
KoToR 1+2
Jade Empire
Doom 3
Unreal Tournament 2
Forza Motorsport
Conker: Live and Reloaded
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
Dead or Alive 3
Ninja Gaiden
The list goes on...

You see, your argument about the Xbox only having Halo and Halo 2 is so void and far from the truth that it's hard to take any credibility into account when you look further into your opinion. You people love to toot your Final Fantasy and Kill Zone horns, it's almost sad to me. Oh, and just to break your fragiles hearts, Square Enix is developing a FF for the Xbox 360. Funny how you've lost your trump card in it all, I guess that's just the world of business.

And then you people say that the Xbox 360 is ugly, what's so ugly about it?? Is it just a matter of YOUR OPINION?? You people take your opinions as if they're prophetical messages from someone who knows the gaming industry so well that you can say such. And, anyone ever heard the saying "function over form"? You obviously have lost sight of anything like that. And, I also must say, those graphics that you saw at E3 for PS3, the extremely photo-realistic ones.. those were all STILLS. If Sony even tried anything like that on their console that actually moved and added thousands upon thousands of animations and characters, it would make the thing lag out so badly that your PS3 would almost die from the strain. Unless you're saying that the PS3 holds thousands of processing RAM to carry such a weight.

Prices, aka "I don't want a plastic Jesus..."
by gkflyboy May 19, 2005 7:42 PM PDT
With all this hype going around - how much is this REALLY going
to cost us? Any predictions. Mine:

XBox 360: $349
PS3: $449
Revolution: $199

Nintendo has to stay at the lower end, since it sees itself as
mainly gaming. XBox 360 will be a bit costly for its hard disk,
and the PS3 even more with Cell and Blue Ray.
