    Lucent said it has acquired MassMedia Communications, a privately held, start-up developer of network interoperability software, including products that manage connections across data, voice, and video networks. Purchase terms were not disclosed. Andrew Patka, the president and founder of MassMedia, will join Lucent as director of signaling applications and call control within the data networking systems division. MassMedia was founded in 1995 and employs 12 people.
