- Thu Dec 6 2001 AOL publisher cuts more staff
AOL Time Warner's IPC Media says it is planning to cut another 118 jobs, less than a month after announcing it was closing six magazine titles. IPC, which the U.S. media giant acquired this year for $1.64 billion, did not rule out the possibility of further magazine closures as part of a review that has already seen its long-running Woman's Journal shut down. The British magazine publisher also cut 90 staff members earlier this year when it scaled back its Web operations.
AOL Time Warner has been cutting jobs and poorly performing operations in recent months as it tries to stay on course to hit its financial targets. Last week, AOL Time Warner's magazine arm Time Inc. said it was shutting three magazines--On, Family Life and Hong Kong-based Asiaweek.
